From Estimate to Signed Contract Inside One System

The challenge

Estimators built quotes outside the system the rest of the business ran on, so every won job began with someone re-entering numbers that already existed. There was also no path from a finished quote to a signature — that step lived in email and attachments.

Where we came in

Building the quoting tool was the straightforward half. The half that gets skipped is application lifecycle management: a business application that cannot be changed safely stops being changed at all, and then quietly stops matching the business.

What we did

• Built a quoting capability on the Dynamics and Power Platform stack the business already ran
• Provisioned a proper development environment separate from production
• Established build and release pipelines in Azure DevOps to move solutions between environments
• Set up a repeatable production-to-development refresh so development works against real structure
• Delivered iteratively in sprints against requirements gathered from the estimators themselves

Where it landed

• Estimators quote and push data into the system of record rather than re-keying it
• Quotes carry through to presentation and signature without leaving the platform
• Changes ship through a managed pipeline, so the tool can keep evolving with the business
